How To Split Screen In iPhone And iPad - Activate split-screen mode
- The second app
The very first step to start is to find the second app that you want to see on the screen. Open and close it right away as you just need to have it appeared in the toolbar.
- The main app
Head to the main app that you want to share the screen with the second one. In case you prefer those 2 apps not to appear with the same size on the screen, just pick the one that will occupy most of the screen space.
Then, from the bottom of the screen, slide up to see the toolbar, which saves your pinned apps and recently opened windows. That’s why we suggest you open the second app first.
- Move the second app
Now press and hold the app then pick it up from the toolbar and move it towards the first app’s screen until a long thin rectangular box appears. You can move it to whichever side you want, release to place it and you will see the second app’s screen lying next to the first’s.
But if the second app is moved to the other window after being released, it means that the app, unfortunately, doesn’t support the feature.
How To Split Screen In iPhone and iPad - Re-arrange screens on iPad
When using split-screen mode on your iPad, there will be one app taking up more screen space than the other and that may not satisfy you. Luckily, you have more than one way to solve this.
- Put the second app out of sight and bring it back
The first step is to tap the grey bar at the top of the second app then move it to the side of your screen to make it temporarily disappear.
To bring it back, you then swipe from the side you hide it and it will pop up again.
- Handle the second app’s unwanted position:
If you’re annoyed with the second app being laid on top of the first, you can bring them back to the true split-screen mode by following these steps below.
First, tap and hold the grey bar on top of the second app then move it downward or upward. While doing that, both screens will be blurred but it will end when released.
In case you no longer want the second app to be there, do exactly like those steps above then you can just swipe it to the side.
- Adjust the screen sizes
If you want this one app to take up more space than the other, just simply drag the bar between the apps to the left or right. But keep in mind that there are limits to how long you can drag, which are 50:50 and 25:75, but it can still be good enough.
