One of Xiaomi's most popular flagship, the Mi MIX 3 was among a small number of smartphones with a slider screen released in 2018. It comes with great features and a 93.4% screen-to-body ratio thanks to the magnetic slider and hidden camera design. Nevertheless, this design together with the phone's ceramic-glass material has caused people to question its toughness. Recently, the popular Youtube channel, JerryRigEverything has tested the device's durability and the result was astonishing.
Since the smartphone composed of two parts due to the slider design, the bend test is most crucial. The video shows that Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 resisted the extreme force exerted when the tester tries to bend the phone, despite a slight curve seen, the phone was unharmed by the test. Furthermore, the phone returned to its original condition after the test, proving that the slight curve was only temporary, thereby passing the bend test. This has shown that the smartphone is very durable and can't be bent with moderate pressure.
The scratch test also showed great results. The Mi MIX 3's ceramic back was much harder to scratch than glass or metal back, the most common materials used by other flagship smartphones nowadays. Although the tester detected a minor flaw that there's a tiny gap between the two parts of the smartphone where dust or sand could enter and pile up in the long-run, which may erode the slider screen mechanism, the device still passed both tests with flying colors.
On the whole, Mi MIX 3 has survived the bend test and scratch test and remained unscathed, proving that it is a durable smartphone capable of resisting moderate pressure or collision, so you don't have to worry if you accidentally drop your phone. The Mi MIX has been brought to foreign markets after being sold in China for a long time. The phone is also available for sale in Malaysia and Europe. Nevertheless, there has not been an official announcement that the phone will be launched in India.
