Galaxy S27 Ultra Could Restore the Screen Quality Buyers Missed on the S26 Ultra

Samsung's next Ultra may finally answer the complaint that pushed some buyers away from the Galaxy S26 Ultra: the screen itself. Early reports say the Galaxy S27 Ultra is being tuned for clearer text, stronger viewing angles, and a privacy mode that does not cut resolution as hard as it does today.

What put people off the S26 Ultra
The S26 Ultra launched with Privacy Display, a hardware feature meant to hide the screen from people sitting nearby. Owners and store visitors soon said the panel looked worse even with that mode switched off. Common complaints included a grainy or hazy look, jagged edges on text and icons, and narrower viewing angles than earlier Ultras.
Turning Privacy Display on made the tradeoff clearer. Brightness dropped sharply, and the phone ran the panel at a lower resolution because some pixels were switched off. Samsung treated part of that drop as a design choice, not a defect. Coverage from PhoneArena and buyer posts in March 2026 showed enough returns and cancelled orders that the display became a reason to skip the phone, even among people who liked the rest of the hardware.
What the S27 Ultra rumor claims
An October 2026 PhoneArena report says Samsung is already working on those display problems for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. An industry tipster, asked on X whether the next Ultra would improve on the S26 Ultra screen issues, replied yes. The expected changes are a higher effective resolution than the S26 Ultra and better off-axis viewing, including when privacy features are not in use.
Nothing here is a confirmed spec sheet. Samsung has not announced the S27 Ultra, and a short reply from a leaker is not the same as a finished panel. Still, the complaint is specific enough that a fix would be easy to check at launch: sharper type, less haze, and a privacy mode that does not dim and soften the image as much.
Why this matters more than another camera leak
Other S27 Ultra rumors cover cameras, magnets, and charging curves. Those may matter later. The display is the part buyers look at all day, and it is the part that made some S26 Ultra shoppers walk away. If Samsung keeps Privacy Display but stops it from taxing normal use, the S27 Ultra would fix the flaw that defined the previous Ultra for a lot of cautious buyers.
The S26 series arrived in February 2026, so a similar early 2027 window is the likely launch period. Until then, the safer reading is simple: Samsung has heard the screen backlash, and at least one supply-chain source says the next Ultra is meant to answer it.
