These products often feature vents, graphene sheets, aluminum plates, or mesh designs. The goal is better heat dissipation than standard plastic or silicone cases.

In practice, most passive cooling cases deliver only modest results. Tests show temperature drops of about 1 to 4 degrees Celsius on the surface compared with ordinary cases. That small difference rarely prevents thermal throttling when the processor and graphics chip run at full load for long periods. Once the case absorbs heat, it can even act as an insulator and slow further cooling.
Active coolers that clip or magnetically attach to the phone work better. Fan-based or thermoelectric models can lower surface temperatures by 5 to 12 degrees and help maintain higher frame rates. However, these are accessories rather than full cases. They add bulk, noise, and sometimes require extra power. Their benefit also drops if a thick protective case sits between the cooler and the phone.
Standard cases often trap heat. Thick silicone or multi-layer designs raise internal temperatures by several degrees and can speed up battery wear over time. Removing the case during intensive sessions or charging remains one of the simplest and most effective steps.
For everyday use such as browsing or messaging, heat mitigation cases offer little advantage. They may help slightly in direct sunlight or provide better grip and impact protection. For gamers or users who push their phones hard, an active cooler or simply going caseless during long sessions is more useful.
In short, most heat mitigation cases provide limited cooling. They are not a cure for overheating. Smart habits and, when needed, dedicated active coolers deliver clearer results.
