In the past few months, there were reports about Vivo planning to announce a new phone in its budget Y-series in India, dubbed Vivo Y5. A new report from 91Mobiles based on the internal sources suggests that the company will be launching the Vivo Y5 as Vivo Y17 in India. Additionally, the report includes an image of the upcoming phone giving us the first look at the design.
Vivo Y17: Expected price
The expected price of the Vivo Y17 is Rs. 16,990 and it is touted as the cheapest phone that comes with a triple camera setup on the rear.
Vivo Y17: Expected Specification & Features
The promotional poster of the Vivo Y17 shows a triple camera system at the back along with support for fast charging. The camera setup is stacked vertically and a single LED flash below the camera module. As for security, it comes with a fingerprint scanner mounted on the rear. In terms of design, its display seems to be surrounded by minimal bezels along with a dewdrop on the top accommodating a selfie camera.
According to 91Mobiles, this upcoming Vivo handset will sport a 6.35-inch panel and pack an MTK Helio P35 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM. The only confirmed specification is the triple rear cameras while the other unconfirmed features are Android 9.0 Pie and 5,000mAh cell with support for fast charging.
If all these pieces of information are true, the Vivo Y17 will most likely fall in the competition against the recently-released Redmi Note 7 Pro and the forthcoming Realme 3 Pro despite two of them are priced lower. Additionally, the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 is also a strong competitor in its price range.
If the Vivo Y17 is indeed priced at Rs. 16,990, it might fall behind in the fierce competition in the budget segment in which many phones offer a ton of value for a competitive price. The advantage that this coming Vivo phone have is its triple rear camera, that might be an attractive feature that many people would pay attention to.
