As claims on the fresh report of BGR, the Vivo V11 Pro successor will feature a pop-up front camera, similar to the one on the recently-released Vivo NEX. This handset is expected to come out in the next month. For now, Vivo hasn’t revealed the name of this device. However, we have noticed that new phones in the Vivo V lineup have an odd number in their name, for example, the Vivo V11 Pro is the Vivo V9 Pro’s successor. If Vivo follows the same pattern, this upcoming phone will launch under the name Vivo V13 Pro. The specs of the handset also remain unknown at the moment
The pop-up camera on the Vivo NEX
December last year, the Head of Vivo’s Brand Strategy, Nipun Marya, already confirmed that the Vivo V11 Pro’s successor will be launched around the first half of this year. The new report of BGR also suggests the same direction. In addition, the V11 Pro has already proved that it is a successful phone for the Vivo brand. It also was the earliest phone in its segment to come with an on-screen fingerprint sensor. If the BGR’s report is accurate, the new Vivo phone will still follow the trend of using new technologies on mid-range smartphones.
But why do Vivo opt for the pop-up front camera?
Firstly, with the pop-up front camera, the phone will not need to have either a notch or bezel on its screen. And that allows phone makers to develop a truly bezel-less display. The Vivo NEX was the first phone to come with a pop-up front camera, and yes, it has a truly bezel-less screen. A similar front camera design was later adopted by another Chinese phone maker Oppo on its flagship device, Oppo Find X. However, Oppo decided to go for a sliding camera instead of going for a pop-up camera.
Honor and Xiaomi have also recently released phones with a sliding camera. Although a moving part in a phone will be more likely to fail, using either sliding or pop-up mechanisms are, for now, still the most viable options to replace the notch and make the phone truly bezel-less. So, hopefully, the phone makers can come up with some more innovative ideas in the future.
This upcoming Vivo phone might come at a price of between Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000. If the V11 Pro’s successor features a truly bezel-less screen and a pop-up selfie camera, it will most likely be the first and the only phone in the segment to have such features. Therefore, it will be a massive advantage when it comes to attracting customer attention.
