These are all much-awaited devices from popular brands like Google, OnePlus, Nokia, Honor, and Asus.

In the last couple of weeks, we have seen quite a lot of new budget and mid-range handsets, including Redmi 7, Oppo A5s, Vivo Y17, Realme 3 Pro and more. It seems like we will welcome multiple premium smartphones from brands like Honor, OnePlus, Nokia, and Google in the upcoming month. The most notable devices that will make their debuts in May are Pixel 3a & Pixel 3a XL, Honor 20 & Honor 20 Pro, OnePlus 7 & OnePlus 7 Pro, Asus ZenFone 6Z, and Nokia 8.1 Plus. Here are all the details we have known about these upcoming phones.

OnePlus 7 & OnePlus 7 Pro

OnePlus already confirmed the official launch date of the OnePlus 7 duo to be on 14 May. The China-based brand is expected to host multiple launch events for the new phones and one of which will take place in India.

The OnePlus 7 Pro will most likely come with a Super AMOLED panel with QHD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. It is also rumored to come with triple cameras on the rear which are a 48MP primary sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a third 8MP telephoto unit. It is also touted to come with 3x optical zoom as well. In addition, the OLED panel on the OnePlus 7 Pro has just got A+ rating from DisplayMate. The display size of the Pro model is said to be 6.7 inches.

The OnePlus 7 Pro was also confirmed to come with a pop-up selfie camera in a recent ad in The New York Times. There will likely be a 4,000 mAh battery under the hood with support for 30W Warp Charge as well. In terms of software, it is reasonable to expect Android 9 Pie on both of the upcoming devices with OnePlus’ OxygenOS 9 on top. As for the OnePlus 7, it is expected to come with slightly watered-down specs. Unlike the Pro model, the standard version is said to have a notched screen along with a dual camera setup on the rear. However, both of the phones still pack the most powerful Snapdragon 855 processor.

Pixel 3a & Pixel 3a XL

The launch date of the upcoming mid-range Pixel 3a duo is not far away from the OnePlus 7. The event will take place on 7 May in the Us. According to rumours and leaks, the standard Google Pixel 3a might pack a humble 5.6-inch panel with FHD+ (1,080 x 2,220p) resolution. The large Pixel 3 XL is said to come with a large 6.0-inch display with Full-HD+ resolution as well. While the standard model will likely be powered by a Snapdragon 670 processor, the larger model might run on a Snapdragon 710 SoC. In the camera aspect, several reports that Google will equip the Pixel 3a XL with a 12.2MP camera on the rear, just like the premium Pixel 3.

On the front, there could be a single 8MP selfie camera on the phone. In terms of memory and RAM, they will both offered in 4GB of RAM / 64GB of internal storage. Other notable features include a headphone jack, fast charging support with a USB-C port.

Finally, the Pixel 3 is reportedly priced at 649 CAD (around Rs. 33,800) in the Canadian market while the Pixel 3a XL might be offered at 799 CAD (around Rs. 41,400).

Asus Zenfone 6Z

Asus will reportedly unveil the Asus ZenFone 6Z at a launch event on 16 May 2019. The event is expected to be held in Spain. As for specifications, the phone is said to house a Snapdragon 855 SoC, paired with 6GB RAM. Of course, it will run the latest Android 9 Pie at launch. On the front, there might be a bezel-less display with a punch hole housing a selfie camera similar to the Galaxy S10.

Asus Zenfone 5z

However, there are some reports suggested that Asus might go for the pop-up front camera design instead which is similar to the Oppo F11 Pro and Vivo V15 Pro. In the camera aspect, it is said to come with a triple rear camera system. Lastly, the successor to the ZenFone 5Z will most likely be priced under Rs. 30,000.

Honor 20 & Honor 20 Pro

Unlike OnePlus and Google, Honor is expected to announce the Honor 20 & 20 Pro later into the month. The launch event of the upcoming Honor 20 duo will reportedly take place on 21 May in London. Both of them will most likely be powered by a Kirin 980 processor, aid by a Mali-G76 GPU, dual NPU, and up to 8GB RAM. in terms of camera, the standard Honor 20 is said to have a triple camera setup on the rear while the Pro model might come with four rear cameras.

Honor 20 Pro's expected color variant

Up front, both phones could sport a 32MP selfie camera. Powering the Honor 20 Pro might be the same 3,650 mAh battery that we have seen on the Huawei P30, with 22.5W fast charging support. Other features include Link Turbo, Gaming+, GPU & CPU Turbo, and more. In terms of price, the Pro version is said to be priced from 2,999 CNY (around Rs. 31,100).

Nokia 8.1 Plus

Early this month, the Nokia X71 was launched in the Taiwanese market along with the Nokia 9 PureView. HMD Global is expected to bring the same handset to the global market under the name Nokia 8.1 Plus in the next month. In terms of specs, the Nokia X71 comes with a 6.39-inch PureDisplay with FHD+ resolution, an aspect ratio of 19.3:9, and a screen-to-body ratio of 93 percent. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor clubbed with 6GB RAM / 128GB of internal storage which can be further expanded via a microSD slot up to 256GB.

Moving to the camera department, the recently-launched Nokia X71 sports a triple camera setup, comprising of a 48MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP wide-angle lens, and a 5MP depth unit with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, it has a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture housed on the notch for selfies and video call. As for software, it ships with Android 9.0 Pie at launch. Other features include an audio jack and a decent 3,500mAh cell with support for 18W fast charging. It is currently priced at 11,900 TWD (around Rs. 26,600) in Taiwan.
