Redmi Note 9T, along with the Redmi 9T, are the first smartphones that Xiaomi launches in 2021. The affordable Redmi Note 9T is the successor of the Redmi Note 8T launched in 2019. It fixes many issues that the Note 8T has. It is noticeably faster and has a better screen. Its re-positioned finger scanner is also easier to reach.
However, that doesn’t mean that the smartphone is a full package. Some of the downsides are the same slow charging, Xiaomi’s usual bloatware problem, weaker cameras compared to the 8T. Check out our Redmi Note 9T review to find out more about the device.
Redmi Note 9T Release Date
Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 9T on January 8. The device is expected to arrive in India soon.
Redmi Note 9T Price
The price of the Redmi Note 9T has been set at EUR 229 for the base variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Meanwhile, the variant with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage comes at EUR 269. Redmi Note 9T price in India is expected to start from Rs 24,132.
Redmi Note 9T Design
The Redmi Note 9T is a big phone. So people with smaller hands might find it difficult to hold it. The smartphone’s side-mounted fingerprint scanner is integrated with the power button. It is located on the right edge of the phone. And compared to the Note 8T’s rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, it is much easier to reach.
The volume rocker is right above the fingerprint scanner. A 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-port, and an IR blaster can be found around the edges.
The rear is made of plastic but with a textured effect, making it feel nicer than the “regular” plastic back. The rear cameras are in a camera block that is the same as that of the Poco X3 NFC and Mi 10T Lite.
Redmi Note 9T Display
Like its predecessor, the Note 8T, the Note 9T has a Full HD+ LCD display but with improved contrast and more accurate and responsive automatic brightness.
The size of the display is 6.53 inches, slightly bigger than the display of the Redmi Note 8T. But with its thinner bezels, the Note 9T doesn’t look much bigger than the Note 8T.
Redmi Note 9T Camera
In terms of camera, the Redmi Note 9T comes with three rear cameras: a 48MP main lens, a 2MP depth-sensing lens, and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, it has a 13MP selfie camera.
On paper, the camera setup of the Redmi Note 9T is a step down from that of the Note 8T which even has an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The 8T from Xiaomi was the first affordable phone having a 48Mp camera.
If your budget is tight and you want a phone with great cameras, the Redmi Note 9T is probably not for you. Pictures that the smartphone produces look fine. However, the colors don’t seem too vibrant and the photos look a bit dim. And when there is a slight amount of light, they are overexposed.
On the other hand, the selfie camera performs way better, especially in Portrait mode. AI optimization helps the subject stand out from the background.
Redmi Note 9T Specs & Performance
The highlight of the Note 9T is that how it works way faster than its predecessor. In a benchmark test, the smartphone managed to score 1,799 for its multi-core score. The score is a drastic improvement over the Note 8T’s 1,158 scores. As a result, apps are loaded quicker while navigating through the phone is smoother.
The Redmi Note 9T is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset. From the benchmark score, it seems to be a real competitor to the Snapdragon 600-series processors from Qualcomm.
The smartphone supports 5G. So if you live in an area with 5G available, you can access the next-gen connectivity with blazing fast speed.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T runs on Android with Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 on top. Out of all Android overlays, MIUI is one of the most popular ones with features that are similar to the Control Center from iOS. You also get some pretty dramatic wallpapers. However, there is one big issue.
More often than not, Xiaomi phones come with numerous pre-installed apps cluttering up the menu. Of course, you can delete these apps if you don’t use them. It is still a time-consuming process though.
Redmi Note 9T Battery
The Redmi Note 9T comes with a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging. That is all the information that we have got regarding the Redmi Note 9T release date, price, and specs. We hope that it can help you decide whether to spend your money on the device or not.
