A new Nokia TA-1184 with codename 'Wasp' spotted on FCC with 3GB of RAM, a 6.1-inch display, a headphone jack, and some more details.

A fresh Nokia phone with a model number of TA-1184 and codenamed Wasp has just spotted on FCC. The listing only reveals a few details of this upcoming phone, including a 6.1-inch screen, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. The handset will have dimensions of 145.96x70.56 mm. In addition, the handset was listed in multiple options with model numbers of TA-1183 and TA-1188. While the handset with model number TA-1188 passed the Eurasian Economic Commission in Russia, the variant with TA-1183 model number might belong to the Indian and Chinese markets.

It is not really surprising when HMD Global chooses ‘Wasp’ as a moniker for its upcoming phone as previous smartphones from the brand were codenamed under superhero names as well. According to the listing on FCC, the handset will support dual SIM Cards and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. In addition, it will still have an audio jack.

However, it is quite confusing that the Nokia 8.1 Plus that was listed on China’s TENAA also had the model number of TA-1188. The alleged Nokia 8.1 Plus will likely have Zeiss-branded triple cameras placed vertically on the rear, Nokia branding, and an on-screen fingerprint scanner. The handset is also said to have the hole-punch design similar to the Galaxy S10.

These are all pieces of information that we have and can speculate for now. However, with these specs, we suspect that they could be the Nokia 5.2 and Nokia 2.2 which are the successors to the Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 2.1, respectively. The Nokia 2.1 and 5.1 are currently priced at Rs. 5,290 and Rs. 9,669. While the Nokia 2.1 comes with a Snapdragon 425 SoC and 1GB of RAM, the Nokia 5.1 packs 2/3GB of RAM and a MTK MT6755S SoC.

For now, the availability and launch date of the two models remain unknown. We will update as soon as more details come out.
