One of the most anticipated of HMD Global, the Nokia 9 Pureview, is said to be unveiled at the MWC event on 24 February. The company has already scheduled its event at the MWC 2019 where it’s expected to announce the Nokia 6.2, Nokia 8.1 Plus, and the Nokia 9 Pureview which will most likely be the first phone to sport a penta camera setup. While the other two phones will be the new additions to the mid-range offerings from HMD, the Nokia 9 Pureview will launch in the flagship segment. The phone has already been featured in a handful of leaks in the last couple of months. Now, new details of the phone have just accidentally been confirmed by Google.
Nokia 9 Pureview's recent leaked press render
As mentioned, the latest details of the Nokia 9 Pureview was accidentally revealed by Google as the phone’s specifications were listed on the Android’s Enterprise catalog of support devices. The Nokia 9 Pureview’s listing showed its render on the front, and it seems to be in line with all of the previous rumors and leaks. Additionally, the listing has now been removed, which further proved it to be accurate, and Google did accidentally list it. Despite being a flagship from a well-established company, the leaked specifications of the Nokia 9 Pureview is actually quite disappointing as it is all last year’s hardware.
The listing on Android Enterprise was firstly spotted by Nokiamob, and it reveals that the upcoming Nokia 9 Pureview will sport a 6-inch display and it will run the latest Android 9.0 Pie at launch. It also suggests that the phone will have 4GB RAM/128GB of storage, a fingerprint scanner and support for NFC but it will not come with “Zero-touch Support,” and that means Enterprise administrators will be limited to manage some aspects of the phone remotely.
The previous leaks already confirm that the phone will pack a Snapdragon 845 SoC, which is by no means a very powerful processor but it is already one year old, and other flagship phones have already been packed with the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC. The Nokia flagship is said to come with a glass back with a total of five rear cameras and a LED flash. In the design department, the Nokia 9 Pureview appears to have a new design on the rear and a rather old one on the front. On the front, it will most likely sport a dual camera setup, and that makes it the first phone to come with seven cameras in total.
Rumor has it that HMD Global could launch the phone in a different option with 6GB RAM/256GB of storage in some markets. While it is interesting to see a phone with a penta camera setup and Zeiss optics, the Nokia 9 Pureview’s hardware seems lackluster for a 2019 flagship.
