Nokia 9 PureView With Five Rear Cameras, Under-Display Fingerprint Sensor Launched

HMD Global finally announced its much-anticipated Nokia phone called Nokia 9 PureView at the Mobile World Congress this year. As said in many leaks and rumors, the handset is the first phone in the world to sports a penta camera setup on the back. The phone maker developed the five rear cameras on the Nokia flagship phone in partnership with ZEISS. Moreover, it is also its first smartphone to feature an on-screen fingerprint scanner.

The Nokia 9 PureView will set you back by $699 (around Rs. 49,600), and it is offered in a single option with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Interested buyers can start pre-ordering the handset in some markets now, and HMD Global will start shipping the phone from March.

Let’s begin with the most highlighted feature of the phone, its penta rear camera setup. It includes three 12MP monochrome lenses and two 12MP RGB sensors, and all of them feature an aperture of f/1.8 and autofocus. The phone will take all pictures in HDR, and all of the sensors on the setup will take separate photos, which will be fused into a single 12MP picture. The handset allows users to take uncompressed RAW photos in the DNG format, which can be directly edited on the smartphone using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom app. On the front, it sports a 20MP sensor for taking selfies and video calling.

In the specifications department, the Nokia flagship comes with a 5.99-inch Quad-HD+ pOLED panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone also comes with the Nokia PureDisplay screen tech that features support for HDR10, allowing users to watch the HDR content on the handset from many streaming providers like Amazon Prime, Netflix, and YouTube. In the software aspect, it will run the latest Android 9 Pie at launch.

Unfortunately, while pretty much all of the recent flagship smartphones pack the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 SoC, HMD Global still decides to go for the old Snapdragon 845 SoC on the Nokia 9 PureView. Nokia only offers the phone in a sole option with 6GB RAM/128GB storage. Under the hood, it is backed by a 3,320 mAh battery with support for both fast charging and wireless charging.
