All of the products on display in the Apple store have solid security features that allow employees to disable devices and make them useless to thieves. Even so, criminals attack and steal items in the store when it is convenient. In India, quite a lot of Apple has been robbed frequently in the past few months but no burglary can compare to the recent one from Palo Alto in Silicon Valley.
According to local reports, last Saturday at 7pm local time, the Apple store in Palo Alto was robbed. It is reported that eight thieves entered the store and took away sample iPhone models totaling $57,000 including the new iPhone XS and XS Max. Then, they fled on various transportations.
Like that theft was not bad enough, on Sunday at 5:50 am, a police was notified by a passerby that the front door of the store had been smashed. The thieves escaped with $50,000 more, including iPhones, iPads, and more.
It is worth noting that in less than 12 hours this store was robbed twice. Moreover, Tim Cook was present at the launch event of iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max on Friday before.
For now, police haven't identified any suspects, let alone arrested anyone. We also do not know clearly whether the two thefts were made by the same gang or two different groups just accidentally arranged the thieves at the same time.
Despite losing a lot of valuable assets, Apple is sure that the stolen devices are worthless. These displayed products runs on a special iOS operating system. When these devices are out of the WiFi area of the Apple Store, they will be permanently disabled.
Perhaps Apple should be announce these extra specialties so that thieves do not have to bother to steal Apple stores.
