iPhone 12 Series Unboxing, Specs, Price In India - Everything You Need

Apple finally announces the latest iPhone series. There are a few new things on the new lineup, including 5G connectivity, a new design, and a new model. This time, Apple offers four models, including iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. If you want an affordable iPhone with a small size, the Mini is perfect for you. If you love a large display to enjoy watching movies or playing games, go for the Pro Max.

The iPhone 12 lineup is the first series in a couple of years that I really feel like something new. It is obvious what sets the 12 Mini and 12 Pro Max apart, but the two 6.1-inch models in the middle are pretty similar to each other. The iPhone 12 & 12 Pro have the same design, nearly the same OLED panels, same chipsets, and both support 5G connectivity. The Pro comes with an extra tele lens, a LIDAR sensor, twice the base storage, extra 2GB RAM, and stainless steel frame. Those additions cost you extra Rs. 40,000, which is pretty massive.

Well, if you have money to spare, the shiny 12 Pro is the better pick. However, it doesn't mean paying an extra of Rs. 40,000 for the Pro is worth it, especially when the vanilla model also has an OLED panel, meaning the differences between the regular and Pro models are not that large like last year's series when the regular model only has an LCD panel with a lower resolution.

iPhone 12 Mini: Specifications & Unboxing

This is the first time Apple launches a 'mini' iPhone. It is pretty much a slightly trimmed-down version of the iPhone 12. The device features a 5.4-inch Super XDR OLED display, instead of an IPS LCD panel like the iPhone 11. The display supports FHD+ (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) resolution and a regular 60Hz refresh rate. According to Apple, all four iPhone 12 models are protected by the new “Ceramic Shield”, which is said to be "tougher than any smartphone glass" and "4 times better drop performance".

Powering the phone is an A14 Bionic SoC, which is claimed to be about 50 percent more powerful in both GPU and CPU than any other mobile chipset on the market. Moving to the camera department, there are two cameras at the back of this phone, a 12MP wide-angle camera with OIS and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera. On the front, there is another 12MP shooter for selfies and video chats. 

It is fueled by a 2,227 mAh battery, supporting 20W fast wired charging and 15W fast wireless charging. 

The 12 mini will also be available for sales in three storage options, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. It will be up for pre-orders in India from October 23rd while the first sales will start from October 30th.

iPhone 12: Specifications & Unboxing

The iPhone 12 is just a bigger version of the 12 Mini. The only difference between the two is the display size. Instead of 5.4 inches, the iPhone 12's display is measured at 6.1 inches. Other than the display, the iPhone 12 has the same display technology, cameras, wireless charging, color variants, chipset, and IP68 rating as the regular version.

iPhone 12 Pro: Specifications & Unboxing

The 12 Pro & 12 Pro Max are two premium models in the family. The 12 Pro features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR panel, with only a 60Hz refresh rate and 2,532 x 1,170 pixels resolution.

Around the back, there are four sensors housed inside a square module, just like the iPhone 11 Pro. The setup includes a 12MP wide camera with an f/1.6 aperture, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle shooter with a 120-degree viewing angle, a 12MP telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom, and a TOF 3D LiDAR scanner, which helps render bokeh in the dark and speeds up autofocus.

Other than that, the 12 Pro has similar specs to the regular 12, including up to 15W wireless charging, 20W wired charging, IP68 rating, and 12MP selfie camera. The iPhone 12 pro colours are Silver, Graphite, Gold, and Pacific Blue.

iPhone 12 Pro Max: Specifications & Unboxing

There aren't a lot of differences between the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. The biggest difference lies in the camera aspect as the 12 Pro Max gets better primary and tele cameras. Its main camera has a brighter f/1.6 aperture and a larger 1/1.7" sensor (with 1.7 µm pixels). As for the telephoto camera, it has a 65mm focal length, allowing 2.5x magnification.

Other than that, the 12 Pro Max has a bigger 6.7-inch display with a higher resolution (2,778 x 1,284 pixels). For now, we haven't get the chance to iPhone 12 pro max unboxing, but it is coming soon.
