At the moment, the iPhone 12 Pro should be the company’s most feature-rich iPhone. However, it is only a matter of a few weeks before the iPhone 12 Mini and Pro Max join the iPhone 12 range. And both of those could make you question whether you could go with the Pro.

The key upgrades that the iPhone 12 receive are subtle. You have slightly more RAM but with the same chipset. On the rear, instead of two camera sensors, there are three for 2x optical zoom.

With LiDAR, there are more focusing options, paving the way for more augmented reality features. Otherwise, the Pro is almost the same as the 12 with the same shape, size, resolution, and screen technology.

The design of the iPhone 12 Pro is both futuristic and retro. Its 6.1-inch OLED display is bright, clear, and extends to the edges. Compared to the 11 Pro, the 12 Pro is smaller. The curved edges are changed into flat, stark, industrial-looking sides.

The key thing about the Pro is its cameras. The quality of photos and videos is superb. But honestly, if you want something better, you might need to wait until the iPhone 12 Pro Max is launched.

iPhone 12 Pro Release Date & Price

Apple announced its new iPhone 12 lineup including the iPhone 12, the Mini, the 12 Pro, and Pro Max during the “Hi, Speed” event on October 13, 2020.

The iPhone 12 Pro was official released on October 23. You can now purchase the phone online and in-store.

The price of the iPhone 12 Pro starts at $999 for the 128GB model. The price rises to $1,099 for the 256GB variant and $1,299 for the 512GB model.

iPhone 12 Pro Design

The design of the 12 Pro is completely different from the iPhone 11 Pro of last year. This year, all Apple handsets have flat sides with 90-degree edges.

On the front, the Ceramic Shield is used, replacing the iPhone 11’s glass. According to Apple, this will enhance the durability of the smartphone by four times. On the rear, the same glass is used. Apple isn’t calling these new iPhones unbreakable, they are just more robust.

The smartphone has an IP68 rating, meaning you can take your iPhone 12 Pro to deeper water than before. The flatter edges do make pressing the buttons easier. However, it doesn’t feel more comfortable to hold compared to the last year’s 11 Pro.

The iPhone 12 Pro comes in Silver, Gold, Graphite, and a new Pacific Blue. This year, no smartphone from Apple will come with EarPods and a charging block. This, according to Apple, will help the environment.

The iPhone 12 Pro still has the same OLED screen technology. The only big change is it has a bigger screen, at 6.1-inch rather than 5.8-inch like the 11 Pro.

The new MagSafe is named after the older generation MacBooks’ magnetic power adaptor. However, the working mechanism of the new MagSafe is a little bit different. At the moment, the accessories that work with this new MagSafe include a charger, cases, and a wallet add-on.

For example, with the MagSafe charger, it will automatically align the phone in the center. And since it is a compatible charger, it will be able to charge your two times faster.

In terms of cameras, the iPhone 12 Pro has three snappers. One is a regular “wide” lens, one is an ultra-wide sensor, and one is a telephoto lens for 2x optical zoom.

With light use, the phone can easily last to midnight with over 50% battery remaining. And the smartphone can actually last through 48 hours before needing a charge.

But don’t let that fool you into thinking the battery life of the iPhone 12 Pro is excellent since it is not. Using 5G will also drain the battery life more than 4G. And keep in mind that if you don’t have an old Lightnight cable as well as a charging block, you will need to buy one of those fast charging blocks.
