For those who do not know, Essential was the first phone maker to launch a smartphone called PH-1 in 2017 with a notch screen which is known as the dewdrop, waterdrop, teardrop today before Apple launched its iPhone X with a notch in its display. However, the handset did not perform well in the phone market at that time and rumour has it that the company could shut down.
Essential Phone Ph-1
But according to recent reports, the company is on track of launching a smartphone probably called Essential Phone PH-2 that will have innovative features like its predecessor. Essential has filed a patent to the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), suggesting that the device will have a real bezel-less fascia and on-screen selfie camera. Interestingly, the Ph-2 will not sport an in-display hole like the Samsung Galaxy S10 series or the sliding mechanism like the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3.
Additionally, the handset is expected to feature a single body appearance with an in-display selfie camera and sensors. According to another previous report, the device probably sports an OLED display which will turn semi-transparent when users want to use the selfie camera. According to the listing of WIPO, the phone will feature a dual rear camera cluster, alongside a fingerprint scanner. While the right spine of the handset probably comes with hardware buttons, the left edge seems a bit neat. Furthermore, the PH-2 could sport a 6.4-inch display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. And it is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Soc as well as 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
The Essential Phone 2’s official features and specifications have not been confirmed. And it is not sure that the device will launch in the upcoming time.
