The smartphone market in India is now swamped with a wide range of smartphones in various price ranges. We are no longer in the time where we have to spend a ton of money to buy a flagship device to get a great experience. With a budget from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000, you can already buy a mid-range handset that offers solid performances and features.
There are a ton of options in the country in the sub-Rs. 30,000 segment that comes with solid specs, cameras, and battery. To make things easier for you, we have selected some of the best phones in the price range for you.
Samsung Galaxy A70
Samsung has been very active in the mid-range segment with the revamped Galaxy A series. The Galaxy A70 is one of the latest additions to the series with a 32MP selfie camera, Snapdragon 675 octa-core processor, and triple cameras on the rear. The phone also packs a massive 6.7-inch FHD+ display and a monstrous 4,500 mAh battery.
During our time with the phone, we found that the Galaxy A70 is a great device for media consumption, and it can also process daily tasks without any issue. You can also play demanding mobile games with the mid-range Samsung offering. With a 4,500 mAh battery, you won’t have to worry much about the phone running out of battery in the middle of the day. You can also recharge the phone very quickly with the included 25W fast charger. However, the Galaxy A70 doesn’t have a Night mode as well as stabilization which might be a deal-breaker for those who are photography addicts.
The price of the Galaxy A70 in India is Rs. 28,990 for the sole variant with 6GB of RAM / 128GB of storage. It is available in White, Blue, and Black color variants. You can buy the handset via offline stores, Samsung’s e-shop, Flipkart, and Samsung Opera House.
Vivo V15 Pro
The Vivo V15 Pro comes with some interesting features. The handset features a 32MP pop-up front-facing camera on the front and a triple camera setup at the back. Moreover, it is also equipped with a Snapdragon 675 SoC and a 5th-gen on-screen fingerprint reader. It is fueled by a 3,700 mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging solution.
After spending time with the phone, we saw that it can deliver high-quality photos, great battery life, and also an immersive display. However, it is questionable that Vivo equips it with a dated micro-USB port.
The handset is available in two memory configurations. The 6GB of RAM / 128GB of storage variant is retailed at Rs. 26,990. Vivo later announced the 8GB of RAM / 128GB of storage variant for a price tag of Rs. 29,990.
Oppo R17 Pro
The Oppo R17 Pro has been on the market for around half a year as it launched in the country in December. Even though it was first priced at Rs. 45,990, Oppo has cut its price all the way to Rs. 29,200. It is powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC paired with 6/8GB of RAM. There is are a triple camera setup on the rear with a 12MP main camera with f/1.5-f2.4 variable aperture, a 20MP camera with f/2.6 aperture, and a ToF 3D camera. The phone has a great battery life with a 3,700 mAh battery that can charge quickly with Oppo’s 50W Super VOOC Fast Charge solution.
We found that the phone has decent cameras after spending some time with it. Photos taken by the phone has good details, even in low-light conditions. Apart from the camera, it also has a solid build quality, attractive rear panel, and insanely fast charging rate.
As mentioned, it is currently retailed at only 29,900 compared to its original Rs. 45,990 price tag. You can buy the phone in either Radiant Mist or Emerald Green colors.
Nokia 8.1
The Nokia 8.1 was originally launched with 4GB of RAM and the brand released an addition option with 6GB of RAM in February 2019. The highlights of the phone include a 6.18-inch FHD+ display, a Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor, dual rear cameras, a 3,500 mAh battery, and a 20MP selfie snapper.
The Nokia 8.1 is an all-rounder phone that offers decent performance, great battery life that can last for the whole day with average usage, and attractive & elegant design.
The Nokia 8.1 variant with 4GB of RAM + 64GB of storage is now priced at only Rs. 20,899 in Amazon India while the price goes up to Rs. 24,899 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model. There are two available color variants for you to choose, and they are Iron and Blue.
Poco F1 Armoured Edition
The Poco F1 is the first offering from Xiaomi’s sub-brand Pocophone that was introduced last year. The Poco F1 has gathered immense success for Xiaomi, and it is known for a powerful device with a competitive price tag. Later in 2018, the brand launched a new edition of the Poco F1 called Poco F1 Armoured Edition in India. The handset is equipped with a powerful Snapdragon 845 octa-core process, dual rear cameras, a beefy 4,000 mAh battery, and 8GB of RAM.
I guess I don’t have to say that the Poco F1 was very impressive in terms of performance, battery life, Kevlar rear panel, and price of course. However, Xiaomi trades off the camera of the Poco F1 as we found it to have rather weak performance in cameras and even worse in low-light conditions. Despite that, I still believe that the Poco F1 offers great value for money and we couldn’t ask much more for its price tag.
The price of the Poco F1 Armored Edition variant with 8GB of RAM / 256GB internal storage is 29,990. It is available to purchase on Flipkart or Amazon.
OnePlus 6T
With the OnePlus 7 series going official, the price of the OnePlus 6T has seen significant cut. Even though its price is still slightly higher than the Rs. 30,000 mark, we believe that it’s still worth mentioning as the phone offers huge value for the money. To recall, the handset comes with a powerful Snapdragon 845 SoC under the hood with 6/8GB of RAM, dual cameras on the rear, a large 3,700 mAh battery, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Many would agree that the OnePlus 6T features a stunning design, a large vibrant display, and a long battery life. However, I still have to mention that it lacks an IP rating, wireless charging support, and also a headphone jack. Moreover, its in-display fingerprint reader is also substantially less reliable and slower than the traditional fingerprint scanner. Other than that, it is a great smartphone with powerful performance and great camera quality.
The price of the OnePlus 6T for the 8GB RAM / 128GB of storage variant is Rs. 32,999 on Amazon.in while the price increases to Rs. 36,999 for the 8GB of RAM + 256GB of storage option. Interestingly, the company doesn’t reduce the price of the 6GB RAM variant.
