All the Zenfone Max M2, Redmi 6 Pro, Realme U1 and Honor 8C fall in the same price range, so which phone stand out among four devices?

With Asus launching its new Zenfone Max M2, consumers now have more options apart from current solid competitors in the segment such as Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro, Realme U1 and Honor 8C.

Asus Zenfone Max M2

Asus released the Asus Zenfone Max M2 as a lower-level model of its Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2. The smartphone will be available from 20 December on Flipkart with several launch offers including No Cost EMI and Rs 99 mobile protection plan. So if you want to upgrade your old smartphones with a limited budget, then this article would give you a good understanding of some notable handsets in the budget segment including the new Zenfone Max M2, Honor 8C, Realme U1, and Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro.

While the Zenfone Max M2 and Honor 8C both come with a Snapdragon 632 SoC, the Xiaomi Red 6 Pro only has a Snapdragon 626 SoC. Meanwhile, the Realme U1 sports the Helio P70 SoC which is probably better than the chipsets of the other three as it is at a similar level with the Snapdragon 660 SoC.

In the memory and storage aspect, the Asus handset’s base variant has 3GB of RAM/32GB of storage and the top-end variant has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Meanwhile, the Redmi 6 Pro has similar options with 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage. The Realme U1, on the other hand, has two variants with 3GB of RAM/32GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage. Lastly, the Honor 8C also has two options with 4GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage.

All of these four handsets support Bluetooth, dual-SIM, Wi-Fi and also 4G LTE. They also all run Android 8.1 Oreo with their own custom UIs, but it’s still unknown whether they will get an update to Android 9 Pie or not. Asus already confirmed that Zenfone Max Pro M2 would get Android 9 update in January next year, but they haven’t mentioned the Zenfone Max M2.

In the battery department, The Asus, Xiaomi and Honor handsets all sport a large 4,000 mAh battery, while the Realme U1 only packs a 3,500 mAh battery.

All handsets in this comparison have a full and notch display design; hence there is no significant difference in this aspect. The Zenfone Max M2, Honor 8C and Redmi 6 Pro have metal unibody design while the Realme U1 only features a polymer glass finish.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro

The Asus device comes with a 6.26-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and 2.5 curved glass protection. The Honor 8C sport a similar 6.26-inch HD+display, while the Xiaomi and Realme devices both have Full-HD+ displays with 5.84 inches and 6.31 inches in size, respectively. Both the Asus and Honor handsets are behind in the display aspect as they both only come with an HD+ panel, while it is FullHD+ display on both Xiaomi and Realme handsets. Furthermore, the Honor 8C and the Realme U1 both have a smaller water-drop notch while the Zenfone Max M2 and the Redmi 6 Pro have a wider notch.

The Asus has a dual camera set up in the rear with a 13MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor, while the Honor 8C and Realme U1 both come with a dual camera system in the back with a 13MP main sensor and a 2MP sensor. On the other hand, the Redmi 6 Pro also sports a dual rear camera setup with a 12MP sensor and a 5MP sensor.

In the front, the Asus handset comes with an 8MP f2.0 sensor and also an LED flash. The Honor device also has one 8MP front-facing camera, while the Realme phone is leading in the camera department with a 25MP front-facing camera. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi handset has the lowest 5MP front camera.

The base variant of the Zenfone Max M2 with 3GB of RAM/32GB of storage is priced at Rs. 9,999, while its top-end option with 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage is set at Rs. 11,999. Meanwhile, the Honor 8C’s base variant with 4GB of RAM/32GB of storage costs Rs. 11,999 and the top-end variant with 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage costs Rs. 12,999.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro comes with a price of Rs. 10,999 for the entry-level variant with 3GB of RAM/32GB of storage. Its higher-end model with 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage costs Rs. 12,999. Finally, the Realme U1 comes with a similar price tag of Rs. 11,999 with others for its base variant with 3GB of RAM/32GB of storage and the top-end with 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage is priced at Rs. 14,499. While its starting price is similar to other phones, its top-end doesn’t have more superior specifications but comes with a higher price tag than the other three handsets.
