HMD Global is set to launch a release event in Taiwan on 2 April, and it already sent out quite a few invites. The company is expected to unveil its Nokia X71 at the event. While previous leaks and rumors had already claimed that this Nokia X71 might be launched in the global market under the name Nokia 8.1 Plus, recent pieces of evidence hint its name to be either Nokia 6.2 or Nokia 6 (2019). Ahead of the launch in the upcoming week, the handset has just been spotted on benchmarking site Geekbench.
Nokia X71: Expected specifications
If the listing of the phone on Geekbench is to be believed, this handset will likely pack a Snapdragon 660 SoC at the core. While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset is by no mean quite old already, it’s still considered a decent improvement from the Snapdragon 630 SoC on the Nokia 6.1. Additionally, the phone is listed to pack up to 6GB RAM. In terms of software, it is confirmed on the listing to run the latest Android 9 Pie out of the box. It is still unknown whether the 6GB of RAM model will stay exclusively to the Taiwanese market or it will come to other markets also. To recall, the Nokia 6.1 is offered in two options, 3GB of RAM model and 4GB of RAM variant.
It is also said that the upcoming Nokia X71 could be the first phone from HMD Global to come with a hole-punch display just like on the Galaxy S10 phones. If it indeed has a punch hole on the front, the handset will have a much better screen-to-body ratio in comparison with its predecessor. Not just that, it is tipped to come with a 48MP primary sensor in the triple rear camera system at the back. If these specifications are accurate, this Nokia X71 will be a strong competitor against the recently-released Redmi Note 7.
