The digital music service Spotify has introduced the 10MB-sized Spotify Lite Beta app to its users, which is developed to run on low-end Android mobile phones. After testing the app successfully in a variety of markets including Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico, and the Philippines, the developers finally brought it to the Indian market.
Compared to the main app, the Spotify Lite Beta app saves more data. In other words, it is more suitable for old smartphones which just has a limited capacity.
In an interview with IANS on May 13, Amarjit Batra, Managing Director, Spotify India, said,
Indian users can now download the lighter version to their smartphones, as well as run it along with the main version of Spotify.
According to the Spotify Managing Director,
With the Spotify Lite Beta app, users can play any songs and artists they like, and keep track of work, data, and storage on their Android devices in various network conditions.
The app must be a good choice for Android users that are in trouble with an unstable or slow Wi-Fi connection or how to save more mobile data.
As per the main Spotify app, it is first introduced in the Indian market in February 2019. Within the first seven days, the app gained over 10 lakh followers.
The digital music service Spotify provides over 4 crores songs classified into 300 crores playlists for Indian users. It is now available in the up to 79 markets. The total amount of active users has reached over 207 million. Meanwhile, the amount of Spotify Premium users obtains 96 million. Spotify doesn’t just have about 30,000 new tracks per day but users can also access it in more than 500 products from 200 hardware suppliers in the world.
