India Reportedly Sold More Than 20.4 Crores WiFi-Enabled Devices In 2018

There are about 600 million Wifi-enabled devices in India, which are used for a variety of purposes such as productivity, communication, entertainment, as well as to meet many other demands for connected and smart devices.

According to a report recently published on June 25, the number of WiFi-enabled devices sold in the Indian market in just 2018 reached 204.5 million. Mobile phones occupied about 90% of the whole sales at that time.

In the Indian market, all of the WiFi-enabled devices that were sold last year operated based on WiFi 5 or WiFi 4 standards. Accordingly, the percentage of devices supporting WiFi 4 standard and WiFi 5 standard reached 68.61% and 31.39%, respectively.
The market research company techARC reported that the sale of WiFi-enabled devices may increase by 8 percent this year. The number of units is expected to touch 221 million, in which, the majority comes from smart devices and connected ones that support the automation system in household and offices.
Faisal Kawoosa, who serves as both the founder and chief analyst of techARC, stated that

TechARC believes that in the upcoming time, smartphones will stay on top of the WiFi-enabled devices. However, these products’ growth won’t be as easy to detect as that of smart TVs from streaming devices to many different kinds of smart and automation devices for households which need WiFi connectivity.
