In addition to YouTube ads, Google also unveiled revenues of its cloud service for the first time before Alphabet holds the annual earnings call event. This segment brought a total of $10 billion of revenue for the company, marked as one of the major money-makers along with Google Search and YouTube. In a statement, CEO Sundar Pichai said he was very happy with the overall growth of the company, especially on YouTube and Cloud.

Google Cloud directly competes with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

The disclosure also revealed revenue totals in 2017 and 2018, highlighting how fast the revenue from YouTube ads has accelerated. In comparison with the stats number of 2017, last year’s revenue almost doubled as it gained from $8.1 billion to $15 billion. In 2018, revenue collected from YouTube ads clocked at $11.1 billion.

However, Google hasn’t broken out the overall revenue of YouTube yet. The platform now is home to nearly 2 million YouTube TV subscribers and over 20 million other subscribers of YouTube Music and YouTube Premium, who have paid subscription fees on a regular basis to enjoy the service without ads.

Google, in the meantime, has to be under strict scrutiny due to several issues, including unsavory content, disinformation, and antitrust violations.
