Last month, Xiaomi announced a 5G version of the Mi Mix 3 that packs an X50 modem to enable 5G network. However, that new version doesn’t have many upgrades over standard Mi Mix 3 besides the better Snapdragon 855 SoC. Now, the company just posted a teaser photo showing a new model of the Mi Mix series that is speculated to be the successor to the Mi Mix 3, the Mi Mix 4. The new handset is said to come with a triple camera system on the rear along with the latest Snapdragon 855 chipset.
With revealing any details, the Chinese phone maker Xiaomi posted a teaser photo of the Mi Mix series in which there is a new Mi Mix model alongside three current Mi Mix phones.
To recall, the company firstly introduce the Mi Mix series with a bezel-less design in 2016. Just over a year later, the company introduced the next generation Mi Mix 2 with a new form factor in 2017 and followed by the Mi Mix 2S in April 2018 with better cameras.
The original Mi Mix along with Mi Mix 2 and 2S all came with a unique selfie camera placement. Instead of a selfie camera on the top of the phone, all three has one at the bottom of their displays. However, that was changed when Xiaomi announced the Mi Mix 3 with a new sliding mechanism which further minimizes the bezels on the handset.
As mentioned, in February this year, Xiaomi launched a new version of the Mi Mix 3 with 5G network capability and the more powerful Snapdragon 855 chipset.
Besides confirming to launch a new addition to the Mi Mix series, the Chinese phone maker hasn’t revealed further details about this next Xiaomi Mi Mix handset. However, it’s said to feature a triple rear camera system that might include a periscope lens which is similar to the one Oppo introduced in 2018. This upcoming Mi Mix 4 will likely pack a Snapdragon 855 chipset and 5G capability.
