Recently, Xiaomi phone maker has announced that it has shipped more than two million Redmi Note 7 units in India. In order to commemorate this remarkable milestone, the Chinese technology giant has launched a new phone in this product line called the Redmi Note 7S. In this article, I will take my time with Redmi Note 7S and share the first impressions on this interesting smartphone.

After looking at the front, it is difficult to find the differences between the Redmi Note 7 Pro, base Redmi Note 7 and the new Redmi Note 7S. These three smartphones are almost similar in their appearance. Below the screen, the chin part is also thick. It can say that the Redmi Note 7S is a design 'copycat' of other smartphones in Xiaomi’s Note series this year. This new device from Xiaomi also supports P2i water resistant.

The front of the Redmi Note 7S is a big 6.3-inch display with Full HD+ resolution. The screen is about as good for its segment, with wide viewing angles and vibrant colors. The device also has Widevine L1 support for video streaming with high resolution. As similar to other models in the series, the front of the Redmi Note 7S has a tiny dewdrop notch.
You can see a USB Type-C port in the device's bottom edge, which is used for data transfer and charging. The phone is backed with a large 4,000mAh cell, so you can be assured of daily usage. In addition, the device also supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4.0 quick charging solution.

The only noticeable difference in the design between the upcoming Redmi Note 7S and other models in the series is the label placed next to the camera module. It indicates a higher resolution camera and enhanced imaging capabilities offered on its camera.
Regarding specifications, the smartphone has a similar set of specifications to the Redmi Note 7. It is powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC for quite good performance for users' daily tasks. In addition, it runs MIUI 10.3 based on Android 9.0 Pie.
Redmi Note 7S Camera

The camera on the handset sports a 48MP Samsung GM1 camera with the ability to use pixel binning to create better imaging output. This also helps to take better photos in low-light conditions.
I tried the camera of the smartphone for a short time and found that it is improved more than the one of the Redmi Note 7. However, it is still not as good as of the 7 Pro. The shots taken outdoor look amazing with fairly true color rendition. Dynamic range in photos is rather good and highlights weren’t burnt out under the direct sunlight. I will test the camera of this handset even more in the full review in the future.
Redmi Note 7S Price

And as similar to other products in the same series, the Redmi Note 7S has a very attractive selling price. The 3GB RAM with 32GB memory version costs Rs. 10,999, while the 4GB RAM with 64GB memory variant costs Rs. 12,999. The device will come in three color options including Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue, and Ruby Red.
