The Chinese phone maker Xiaomi has recently announced that they would split Redmi into an independent brand and the Redmi Note 7 was the first Redmi branded-phone after they split. Xiaomi also previously teased a new phone called Xiaomi Redmi Go in the Indian market, sometime in February. Reports hinted that the Redmi Go and Redmi Note 7 Pro would launch alongside with the Redmi Note 7, and details of the Redmi Go have just surfaced online.
According to the leaked render (courtesy of SlashLeaks), the handset will feature a display with a traditional aspect ratio of 16:9 with large bezels on both the top as well as the bottom of the phone and they will also come with the traditional Android navigation buttons under its display. The back panel of the Redmi Go looks a little bit curved about its edges, with a pebble-like design. On the rear, there is a single camera along with an LED flash. The tagline of the Redmi Go is “Go Smart, Do More.”
Xiaomi Redmi Go: Expected specifications & features
According to the promotion render, the upcoming Redmi Go will sport a 5-inch display with HD resolution, and it will come packed with a Snapdragon 425 SoC, coupled with 1GB RAM / 8GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD slot.
In the camera aspect, it will feature a single 8MP camera with an LED flash, and there will also be a 5MP selfie camera on the front. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Dual SIM slots, micro USB port, and Bluetooth. Under the hood, the phone is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery, and it will come in two color options which are Blue and Black.
The fact that it will launch in the entry-level segment, the Redmi Go is expected to run a Go Edition of the Android 8.1 Oreo which is optimized for phones with low-end specifications. The Redmi Go is the first Xiaomi phone to run a Go Edition of Android OS, and it is the third phone to not run the Xiaomi's MIUI OS besides the Mi A2 and the Mi A2.
