Xiaomi is doing a great job at confusing users, especially Indian ones. Xiaomi released the Redmi 9 in June and brought it to India under the name Redmi 9 Prime, instead of just using the same name. Now, the Chinese brand releases a new Redmi phone called Redmi 9, which is a slightly downgraded model of the Redmi 9C.
Xiaomi Redmi 9 (India): Price & Availability
The India version will go on the first sale in India on 31st August. The price is set at Rs. 8,999 for the base 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model and Rs. 9,999 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage model. It will be available in Sky Blue, Sporty Orange, and Carbon Black.
Xiaomi Redmi 9 (India): Specifications & Features
Just like the 9C, the Redmi 9 also features a square camera setup with four holes inside. The first one is for a 13MP primary camera while the other three are a 2MP depth sensor, a LED flash, and the last one is empty. On the front, a 5MP selfie camera is hidden inside the water-drop notch with f/2.2 aperture and AI features for portrait photography. Just like many other phones in Redmi’s mobile portfolio, this phone gets a 6.53-inch display that supports HD+ resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio.
Powering the device is an Helio G35 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM. You can choose to get either the 64GB or 128GB storage options, which is better than the 9C (only 2GB RAM + 32GB storage). Finally, it is fueled by a 5,000 mAh battery that charges over an outdated micro-USB port.
