Xiao just announced that it is going to launch its Xiaomi Play in the Chinese market a few days ago. With its release date confirmed to be 24 December, teasers have started to come in as well. A new teaser uploaded by Xiaomi revealing some key details of the upcoming Xiaomi Play.
Xiaomi Mi Play colour and storage variants
Xiaomi will offer its Xiaomi Play in three storage options in the Chinese market. There will be a base variant with 4GB RAM/64GB storage, a mid-range variant with 6GB RAM/64GB storage, and the top-end model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. As for colour variants, the handset will come in three colour options, including Dawn Gold, Dream Blue, and Black. Sadly, that’s all that the teaser reveals, leaving the hardware specs to remain unknown.
Even though Xiaomi still hasn’t revealed the Xiaomi Play’s specs, the Chinese phone maker did post some new teaser pictures on its Weibo page. Those photos confirm the handset to feature a water-drop notch display as what previous leaks already suggested. And this Xiaomi Play will be the first smartphone of Xiaomi to feature a water-drop notch. Besides the notch, those images also reveal dual rear camera setup stacked vertically and also a circular fingerprint scanner.
The device is expected to sport a mid-range Snapdragon SoC. And as suggested by its name, the Xiaomi Play will be a gaming-centric smartphone. There are also some speculations saying this upcoming smartphone is just a re-branded version of the Xiaomi Poco F1 in China.
Now, Xiaomi has just released those official teaser photos, so it should be clear that this Xiaomi Play will be an entirely new device as those teasers show a smartphone with a completely different design, not the same as the Poco F1. The device is set to be introduced in the Chinese market on 24 December.
