Gaming Smartphone Xiaomi Play To Launch On 24 December

Xiaomi is officially going to release its gaming smartphone called Xiaomi Play on 24 December with more details releasing pretty soon.

Xiaomi is going to release its Xiaomi Play on 24 December. This is the first smartphone in the Xiaomi Play series which might mostly aim at gaming smartphone segment. This new gaming smartphone series could sit next to the current Redmi and Mi series. This gaming device was reported last week to launch between 17 and 26 December. There is also rumor claiming this handset is a Chinese version of the Xiaomi Poco F1 which launched in the Indian market earlier this year.

Xiaomi confirmed on its Weibo page to release the Xiaomi Play on 24 December

After posting a teaser online, Xiaomi finally confirmed to launch the Xiaomi Play on 24 December via one of the company’s official Weibo pages. The post on Weibo page also confirms that this new Xiaomi Play will be released as a new phone model. Though the post doesn’t reveal any details regarding its price or specifications.

Xiaomi might name its upcoming handset as Xiaomi Play to refer it as a gaming device. Its main rivals and sub-brand of Huawei, Honor, just introduced its Honor Play with gaming-centric features such a dedicated NPU with the HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor and GPU Turbo as well. However, it’s worth noting that Xiaomi already releases a gaming smartphone series called Black Shark to join the gaming device segment.

If we consider several ongoing developments, this upcoming Play smartphone might be the ones to feature a 48MP camera that Xiaomi recent teased. This new handset is also rumored to be the Poco F1’s Chinese version. In addition, the Chinese company recently stated that it has shipped more than 700,000 Poco F1 units in the last three months.

These are just some vague information and speculations so take them with a pinch of sale. There should be more details releasing ahead of its launch so now we just have to wait and see.
