Xiaomi Might Discontinue The Mi SE Series Next Year

Last month, the Chinese phone maker Xiaomi announced its new additions to its Xiaomi Mi series, the Xiaomi Mi 9 lineup, in the Chinese market. At the launch event, besides the two Xiaomi Mi 9 & Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Edition, Xiaomi also announced a more affordable model of the Mi 9, dubbed Xiaomi Mi 9 SE. This toned-down model is priced at CNY 1,999 (around Rs. 21,000).
Now, a fresh report cities Xiaomi CEO Lin Bin saying that there is a possibility that the Chinese phone maker decides to stop the Mi Se series and that means the Mi 9 SE will be the last Xiaomi Mi SE ever made. He also says that after the Mi 9 SE, the company will not make any more budget smartphone with a small display. Furthermore, he claimed that the expectation for the Mi 9 SE is higher than the actual sale figure that it got.
Xiaomi Mi 9 SE: Specs & Features
The handset sports a 5.97-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with Gorilla Glass 5 covered. It is powered by a Snapdragon 712 chipset coupled with an Adreno 616 GPU, 6GB RAM and 64/128GB of storage. For security, it comes with an on-screen fingerprint scanner. Powering the phone is a 3,070 mAh cell with support for 18W fast charging.
In the camera department, the handset is equipped with a triple camera setup at the back, including a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP secondary shooter, and a 13MP third sensor. Up front, there is also a 20MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Aside from the dual-SIM slots, it also has other standard connectivity options such as Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, Wi-Fi, and 4G LTE. Lastly, it runs Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 which is based on the latest Android 9 Pie.
