Xiaomi Mi CC9 Hands-On: Focused-Selfie Phone With Decent Performance

Mi CC9 is a smartphone that Xiaomi focuses on the selfie capability with a beautiful design, powerful configuration in the affordable segment.

In early July, Xiaomi officially launched its new smartphone series called CC, with the first phone duo - the Mi CC9 and the Mi CC9e. This series is focused on imaging capabilities. "CC" is said to be an acronym for 'young & creative' phrases like "Camera & Click", "Charming & Cute", and "Curious & Creative".

The first Mi CC9 was officially sold by Xiaomi from July 5. Luckily, today we have the opportunity to hand this new smartphone early. The version we experience is the white version of Mi CC9 with 6GB RAM + 64GB storage. This variant is currently priced at CNY1,799 (roughly Rs. 18,000). This Mi CC9 phone also has an additional 128GB memory option with a higher price of CNY1,999 (Rs. 20,000).

*Like other Xiaomi smartphones, Mi CC9 also comes with transparent silicon case*

*The Mi CC9 features a dewdrop notch design with thin bezels. The 6.39-inch AMOLED display with Full HD + resolution and 19.5: 9 aspect ratio.*

*The chin is still slightly thicker than the other 3 edges. And of course, the Mi CC9 will also have an in-display optical fingerprint scanner.*

*The device has a glossy glass finish for the back covered with a metal frame. The white version can reflect 7 rainbow colors when viewed at different angles.*

*Typically, the rear panel has a vertically-aligned triple camera setup with a LED flash including a 48MP f/1.8 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor.*

*Instead of choosing the "Mi" logo like many other Xiaomi products, the Mi CC9 will have the "Xiaomi" logo on the bottom.*

*The device's camera application supports many shooting modes such as portrait, panoramic, night, Pro, to name a few.*

*As this series mainly focuses on selfie capability, the phone's camera will also come with adjustment tools when using beauty mode, in addition to many other color filters.*

*The bottom edge of the device is Type-C charging port, voice mic, and speaker strip.*

*The upper edge houses an infrared port, the second recording mic, and 3.5mm headphone jack.*

*On the left, there is the SIM tray. The handset supports dual SIM or 1 SIM 1 memory card.*

The Xiaomi Mi CC9 is equipped with quite powerful hardware configuration as it comes with a Snapdragon 710 SoC, paired with 6GB RAM and 64 GB/128GB storage. Powering the phone is a 4,030mAh battery. In terms of software, the phone runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 out-of-the-box.
