Xiaomi India’s managing director, Manu Kumar Jain, just tweeted saying that the company will bring a new phone to the Indian market soon. In the tweet, he mentioned that this forthcoming handset will pack a ‘Snapdragon 7_ _’ SoC that has just come out for two weeks.
To recall, Qualcomm just announced two new chipsets in the Snapdragon 7 series, dubbed Snapdragon 730 and 730G. However, there were only two blanks on the hint by Jain, suggesting that it will be a Snapdragon 730 instead of the Snapdragon 730G.
Even though he didn’t mention the exact identity of this upcoming phone, it might be the successor to the Xiaomi Mi A2, dubbed Xiaomi Mi A3. If it indeed packs a Snapdragon 730 chipset, it would be the first phone from the brand to come with a Snapdragon 730. And if it is priced in the same price range as its predecessor Mi A2, the handset might be the most powerful offering in its segment.
Xiaomi Mi A3: Expected Specs & Features
The Jain’s tweet was the only official piece of information that we have had about this handset. However, a recent leak suggested that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi A3 might feature an on-screen fingerprint sensor, but we can’t confirm whether it is reliable. If it is true, it is likely that the Mi A3 will be offered at a higher price tag than the Mi A2. Other than that, we strongly believe that the Xiaomi Mi A3 will still be a part of Google’s Android One program considering the fact that both the Xiaomi Mi A1 and A2 were both Android One phones.
Snapdragon 730
This new Snapdragon 730 SoC is built on the 8nm processor with 8 CPU cores, six of which are Kryo 470 Silver cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and the other two are Kryo 470 Gold cores clocked at 2.2 GHz. The processor is paired with an Adreno 618 GPU.
The processor comes with Spectra 350 ISP, which can support a 48MP sensor or two 22MP sensors. This ISP can also handle video recording with 4K resolution @ 30fps or FHD resolution @120 fps.
As for connectivity, it supports dual-SIM cards, dual-band Wi-Fi, dual-VoLTE, GPS (with BeiDou, SBAS, QZSS, and Glonass), NFC, USB-C port, and Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX.
