Xiaomi participated in the Android One programme in 2017 when launching the Mi A1 smartphone. One year later, the company unveiled the next-generation Android One-based smartphone, called the Mi A2. And now Xiaomi is said to be on the track of launching 3rd-gen Android One devices in this lineup. XDA-Developers 's reports revealed that there would be at least three new handsets with the in-display fingerprint sensor technology were spotted featuring hardware testing and two of them have codenames that suggest Android One.
They are said to be the Xiaomi Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite and one of their exclusive in China.
The Xiaomi Mi A3 Lite and Mi A3 have been developed under the respective codenames of “cosmos_sprout” and “bamboo_sprout”. Especially, these devices are probably the successor of Android One-based smartphones of Xiaomi because all smartphones running this operating system have suffix “sprout” in their codenames. It is known that these devices will run the Android Pie stock version at launch.
Moreover, Xiaomi is also checking these handsets with “fod” that phone makers usually use to represent the fingerprint scanner, according to the report. Besides, the report reveals that both devices probably feature 32MP front-facing cameras with a photo output with 4,928 x 6,560p resolution. Also, they are reported to have two primary rear cameras.
Moreover, XDA Developers site has recently found another smartphone under “pyxis” codename, which is said to be the exclusive variant of the Xiaomi Mi A3 Lite or the Xiaomi Mi A3 in the Chinese market. This variant will come with MIUI interface and the company’s custom applications. However, there is no more information about the new Android One-based smartphone at present. But, some speculations suggest that the Xiaomi Mi A3 Lite could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6xx SoC while the Xiaomi Mi A3 will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7xx chipset.
