A recent XDA Developer report revealed that the Chinese phone maker Xiaomi is working on three new handsets with codenames “pyxis”, “cosmos_sprout”, “bamboo_sprout”. All of these three handsets come with an on-screen fingerprint scanner, with the latter two are parts of Google’s Android One program, which suggest that they might be the Xiaomi Mi A3 and Xiaomi Mi A3 Lite.

The Xiaomi handset with codename “pyxis” could be the next addition in the Xiaomi X series which is a toned-down model of Xiaomi flagship and the successor to the Xiaomi Mi 6X. Now, despite being the successor to the Mi 6X, it will not be called Xiaomi Mi 7X or 8X, but it will likely launch under the name Xiaomi Mi 9X. The report also reveals some specifications of this upcoming handset.
Xiaomi Mi 9X: Expected Specifications, Prices & Features

As per the leak, it will sport a 6.4-inch Full-HD AMOLED panel with a water-drop notch on top. For security, it is expected to come with an on-screen fingerprint scanner. Powering the phone will be a Snapdragon 675 SoC just like the recently-released Redmi Note 7 Pro. The processor will be paired with 6GB of RAM/64GB of internal storage.
In the imaging department, it will most likely come with triple cameras on the rear, including a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor, 13MP wide-angle camera, and most likely an 8MP depth sensor. Up front, there will be a 32MP camera for taking selfies and video calling. As for software, Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI 10 is expected on the handset. It will be backed by the same 3,300mAh cell as on the Xiaomi Mi 9 with support for 18W fast charging standard.
As for the Xiaomi Mi A3, it will most likely pack similar specifications as this Xiaomi Mi 9X, whereas the Xiaomi Mi A3 Lite is expected to have a lower display resolution as well as a less powerful SoC. As for pricing, the Xiaomi Mi 9X’s price is said to start from CNY 1,699 (around Rs. 17,500) and it should launch sometime next month.
