A new Redmi smartphone, codenamed Cepheus, is set to debut in China. Prior to the release, its specifications have been spotted on Geekbench. The highlight of this device is the Snapdragon 855 SoC, and the benchmark score is high, just as expected from a flagship SoC. As we can infer from the Snapdragon 855 SoC, Xiaomi Mi 9 is expected to be a Xiaomi flagship device.
The Xiaomi Mi 9's listing on Geekbench indicates that the handset will run Android 9 Pie. As for the hardware, the device is packed with 6GB of RAM, which is similar to its predecessor. However, its processor will be the latest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 SoC which was just revealed last month, but it hasn’t been featured in any of the existing smartphones. Other devices that have been confirmed to pack the SoC are Sony Xperia XZ4, OnePlus 7, and Samsung Galaxy S10.
As Xiaomi is likely to release its flagship device some point of time in March 2019, Xiaomi could be a strong contender to be the first device that comes with Qualcomm’s latest chipset. The phone respectively scored 3,524 in its single-core, and 11,260 in its multi-core. MySmartPrice was the first to spot the listing on Geekbench.
According to a leak from an unknown Weibo user, Xiaomi is packed with a 6.4-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19:9, a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 3D ToF sensor, a 12-megapixel sensor, and a 48-megapixel Sony ImX586. On the front, the smartphone is packed with a 24-megapixel Sony IMX576 sensor. The device's dimensions are likely to be 155x75x7.6mm.
As mentioned, the handset will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC, coupled with an X24 LTE Modem. The base variant of this handset is expected to pack 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and there should be more high-end options to be offered.
The phone will be equipped with a 3,500mAh battery with support for 32W fast charging but it doesn't offer wireless charging. And its pricing is rumored to cost 2,999 in CNY (approximately Rs. 30,400).
