The Chinese phone maker Xiaomi has just confirmed that it will launch its next flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi 9, at an event on 20 February. Ahead of its launch, there are a lot of leaks surfacing online and giving us a clear idea of the phone. The latest leak shows the alleged photos of the Mi 9 from both sides of it.

According to the photos, the phone maker decided to go with a safer approach for its upcoming flagship. The phone will comes with a typical design of flagship phones these days, with narrow bezels on both sides and a thin one for the bottom chin. The Mi 9’s predecessor, Xiaomi Mi 8, features a wide notch on its display, while the Xiaomi Mi is said to have a dewdrop notch on the front to accommodate a selfie camera. It also seems like the Mi 9 will come in a gradient color variant, which is also pretty common in the high-end phone segment.

The Mi 9 is tipped to pack the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 SoC, coupled with 8GB RAM/256GB storage. However, it will not come with the X50 5G modem. On the rear, the phone will sport a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor as the main sensor, along with pixel binning to offer better low-light photography and high-resolution photos as well. In the leaked photo above, you can see that there is a triple camera setup on the rear of the phone, and all three sensors are housed in a single camera module, which is right above a single & dual-tone LED flash. It will most likely be backed by a 3,500 mAh battery under the hood and has support for 27W fast charging.

The leaked photo also shows that there is no fingerprint scanner on the back, which may indicate the possibility of an on-screen fingerprint scanner. The Xiaomi Mi 9 is expected to launch on the same date as the Galaxy S10 release event. While Samsung seems to go all in on its upcoming flagship lineup, Xiaomi appears to take a more conservative approach with the Xiaomi Mi 9.
