Xiaomi released the smartphones in its Mi 8 series in April 2018, and the Chinese company is tipped to launch a successor to the Xiaomi Mi 8 called Xiaomi Mi 9 around April next year. Even though there are about 4 months until the phone’s official release, quite a few leaks have been surfaced online giving a decent idea about the upcoming Mi 9’s specs and design.
Leakster Benjamin Geskin previously posted a render of the upcoming Mi 9 and possibly it specs as well. Based on what we see on the leaked render, the Xiaomi Mi 9 will most likely sport a 6.4-inch edge-to-edge AMOLED display with small notch on top of it.
The phone will have a selfie camera, and it is tipped to be a 3D depth sensor. The render also shows that the Mi 9 will have an in-screen fingerprint sensor. On the back of the phone, you can see a triple camera system vertically stacked, and an LED flash as well. One of the rear cameras is tipped to be a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, and the other two might be a 16MP sensor and a 13MP one. That’s is all of the details we have known about its camera setup so far.
Xiaomi Mi 9 render
Now, there are new details in a research note from the GF Securities of Hong Kong. The note confirms that the Xiaomi Mi 9 and the Mi Mix 3’s successor, Mi Mix 4, will most likely both come packed a Snapdragon 855 process which is not really a surprise at all given the fact that both of these phones will be Xiaomi’s flagships. They will also both have a triple camera setup on the rear. The upcoming Xiaomi Mi 9 is expected to pack 6GB, 8GB and possibly 10GB of RAM as well.
Xiaomi is also speculated to offer 5G models of the Mi 9 and Mi Mix 3. There is no information regarding the phone’s battery, but it should be backed by a 3,700 mAh battery with support for fast charging, possibly Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 5.0 and also wireless charging capability.
For the Mi Mix 4, the upcoming Xiaomi flagship will feature a periscope lens which will allow for a greater optical zoom while requiring less space in the chassis. The Mi Mix 4 is also speculated to sport a foldable display as well, though Xiaomi hasn’t made the final decision regarding it yet.
That’s all information of the two Xiaomi’s flagships so far. We will update as soon as more leaks are coming in.
