Google might slash the price of its upcoming smartphone, the Google Pixel 3a. Rumor has it that the new phone may come at the price of Rs. 27,700. If this turns out to be true, this new phone is less than half what you have to pay for an iPhone XS which sets you back Rs. 95,999, and is half the price of an iPhone XR (Rs. 58,500).
This piece of information came from a YouTube channel called This is Tech Today. Their video shows a box that looks exactly like the packaging of a Google Pixel 3a. It also says that the Pixel 3a will come as the price of Rs. 27,700 and the Pixel 3 XL, which is larger, will set you back Rs. 33,247.
Google IO will take place next week, and the channel projects that the phone would be released on the same day.
The public has been coming up with their predictions about everything the Pixel 3a may have and recent claims about the price and releasing date are the latest in line. Ever since a video surfaced in January showing us almost all the key specs of the phone, reports about it constantly appear on the internet.
If the phone meets the public’s expectations, Google’s effort to gain a more solid standing in the smartphone making field might pay off.
According to Sundar Pichai, the company’s CEO, the Pixel 3 had a lower sales than that of Google Pixel 2.
The reason here might be the higher price of the current smartphone. And this price bracket has a lot of strong competitors, which might be another cause of fewer buyers. What happens to the Pixel 3a might drive the company to the decision to slash the price for the Pixel 3a.
However, those are just rumors and speculations. Until Google officially announces them, there is nothing for sure.
