Xiaomi’s sub-brand Black Shark is about to return with its new gaming-centric smartphone called Black Shark 3. The handset is now confirmed to make its debut at a launch event in China. It seems like the handset will be announced under the name Tencent Black Shark 3, after the brand announced a strategic partnership with Chinese giant Tencent Games, which is responsible for creating popular games like PUBG Mobile. For now, the Black Shark 3 release date in India is still unknown.

The Tencent Black Shark 3 will be Black Shark’s first gaming-centric smartphone with 5G connectivity, according to the teaser poster. That is the only feature confirmed by the poster. However, as per previous leaks and listings on certification websites, we have several details about the forthcoming smartphones.
Last week, Slashleaks shared a picture showing its 3C certification online. The screenshot revealed that the device will have two model numbers, Shark KLE-A0 and Shark MBU-A0. The listing further revealed that it will support 65W quick charging standard, which is in line with what the brand’s CEO Luo Yuzhow teased on his Weibo recently.

In addition, we have also heard that the Tencent Black Shark 3 display will have a 120Hz refresh rate and can be switch between 90Hz and 60Hz. Powering the phone should be the powerful Snapdragon 865 SoC, Android 10, and up to 16GB of RAM.

Separately, the handset was spotted on Geekbench 5 with the model number MBU-A0. The listing also shows that the Black Shark 3 is powered by a ‘mobius’-codenamed chipset, which has a base frequency of 1.89GHz. That seems to match the description of the Snapdragon 865 SoC. The unit on the benchmark test only packs 8GB RAM, and it might be the base variant of the device. 901 and 3,015 are the respective scores of the handset in the single-core and multi-core tests.
