OnePlus is planning to launch three phones of the OnePlus 8 series in 2020. These three devices are targeted at different price segments and configurations, including the OnePlus 8 Lite mid-range device and the top two models - OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. This is the first time the Chinese releases a ‘Lite’ model alongside two other smartphones.
Update: In a new conference, OnePlus confirms that the OnePlus 8 smartphones will have a 120Hz display.

Please note that this leak is shared on Weibo and has not been verified. It may have been created by the fans, but many configuration details from the leak are in line with previously leaked information. As for the launch date, the leak reveals nothing about it. We expect the brand to release the three handsets around March next year, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet. Although the leak doesn't mention the price of these smartphones, it should not be too far off of the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro.
OnePlus 8 Lite: Expected Specifications
The OnePlus 8 Lite will be the company's first "Lite" device and will be positioned in the mid-range segment. According to the leaked information, it will be equipped with a 6.4 inch AMOLED screen with Full-HD resolution, supporting the 90 Hz refresh rate. The device will have 8 GB of RAM, along with two internal memory options of 128/256 GB.
Under the hood, there will be a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chipset powering the phone. Keeping the phone running will be a 4,000 mAh battery, with support for 30W fast charging.
Regarding the camera system, the back of the phone will accommodate a triple-lens camera cluster with a 48MP main sensor with f / 1.7 aperture, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle sensor P with f / 2.2 aperture and a 12 MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture and support for 5x hybrid zoom.
OnePlus 8: Expected Specifications
The standard OnePlus 8 will have a 6.4 inch AMOLED screen with Full-HD resolution, supporting the 90 Hz refresh rate.
In terms of configuration, the handset will come in two memory configurations - 8GB RAM / 128GB of internal storage and 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It will support 5G network thanks to the Snapdragon X55 modem. Powering the phone will be the newly-announced Snapdragon 865 chipset. In addition, it is tipped to get power from a 4,000mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging.
Regarding the camera cluster, the company will equip the smartphone with a triple-lens camera system on the back, including a 64 MP main sensor, a 20 MP super-wide-angle sensor and a 12 MP telephoto lens. On the front of the device is a 32 MP selfie camera placed in the punch-hole on top of the screen.
In general, both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Lite variants have similar hardware configurations, although the standard version is better in several departments.
OnePlus 8 Pro: Expected Specifications
The OnePlus 8 Pro is expected to feature a 6.7 inch AMOLED screen with 2K resolution, supporting the 120 Hz refresh rate.
The device will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset with a Snapdragon X55 modem for 5G connectivity. The configuration options of the device are similar to the vanilla model, including two options of 8/12 GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage. It will be equipped with 4,500 mAh battery, which supports 50W fast charging.
The Pro model will also carry a triple-lens camera system, comprising of a 64 MP main sensor with f / 1.7 aperture, a 20MP super-wide-angle sensor with f / 2.2 aperture and a 12 MP sensor with f / 2.4 aperture. Both the front and back of the device are equipped with ToF sensors.
The built-in ToF sensor and selfie camera allow the handset to support 3D Face Unlock feature. In addition, the device will also have an under-display fingerprint sensor as an additional biometric security feature.
