Yesterday (January 13), OnePlus held a screen technology communication meeting in Shenzhen, China. During the event, the company revealed its achievements in the display technology and also confirmed that they have finished developing 120Hz displays.

According to OnePlus, the upcoming flagship OnePlus 8 series will be equipped with a 2K OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch speed - the highest on the smartphone market today.

The OnePlus 8 will have many significant upgrades in terms of display, promising to be strong competitors to Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S20 smartphones. Besides, the new screen developed by OnePlus also has absolute color accuracy (JNCD or Just Noticeable Color Difference) at the highest level of 0.8, which is much better than the highest JNCD of iPhone 11 Pro Max (0.9) and the industry average is JNCD <2.

Notably, OnePlus even stated that it has made a few unique optimizations for the 120Hz screen, promising to bring a better user experience, including smoothness, accuracy, and comfort.
The detailed list of the improvements includes:
- Optimize the smoothness
- Custom MEMC chip
- Up to 120HZ refresh rate
- 240Hz touch speed
- 0.8 JNCD rating
- Automatic brightness adjustment with 2096 different levels
- 10-bit color display
Since the launch of OnePlus 7, OnePlus has begun to notice the importance of the display quality on their smartphones. Now, they have plans to pack them displays with a higher refresh rate and resolution.

At the moment, it can be said that these features have almost become an indispensable standard for smartphones in the premium segment. In addition, OnePlus is also very active in the gaming community and with its high refresh-rate screen, its smartphones promise to give users even better gaming experience.
For now, we have heard that the OnePlus 8 series will be announced with three offerings, including OnePlus 8 Lite, OnePlus 8, and OnePlus 8 Pro.
