Earlier this week, Sony has quietly launched Xperia 8 Lite in Japan. The phone has the same design and specifications as the Xperia 10 - introduced in February 2019, except for the dual camera cluster on the back.

Xperia 8 Lite: Price & Availability
Sony will start selling the Xperia 8 Lite on September 1 in two color options: Black and White. The phone only comes in a single memory configuration with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, which is retailed for 29,800 JPY (around Rs. 20,600).
Xperia 8 Lite: Specifications & Features
The handset is equipped with Snapdragon 630 processor - a 3-year-old mid-range chipset produced on Qualcomm's 14nm process. The device still uses a 6-inch LCD screen with Full-HD + resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio.

Speaking of cameras, this is the only difference between the Xperia 8 Lite and the Xperia 10. The phone has a pill-shaped dual-camera system on the back, including a 12MP f / 1.8 primary sensor and an 8MP f / 2.4 camera. Meanwhile, the rear camera cluster of the Xperia 10 has a 13MP f / 2.0 main sensor and a 5MP f / 2.4 depth sensor.
Currently, it is unclear what the secondary camera sensor of the device is used for. However, the promotional material says it can take brilliant pictures that highlight the subject, so it is highly likely that the 8MP camera is also a depth sensor. In addition, according to Sony, the rear camera of this handset also supports 2x optical zoom.
The new Sony smartphone owns an 8MP f / 2.0 selfie camera on the front, with a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top edge, a USB-C port on the bottom edge to charge the 2,870mAh battery. In terms of software, it is quite surprising that the device only comes pre-installed with Android 9 Pie - the operating system version is nearly 2 years old.
