We have previously reported that the Samsung Galaxy S21 series will make its debut on January 14th and they are expected to carry lots of upgrades. Last year, Samsung upgraded the S20 series’ display with the 120Hz refresh rate, but they could not run the 120Hz refresh rate at QHD+ resolution. The feature was promised to arrive via a software update, but that is yet to happen. However, that won’t be the case with the Galaxy S21 Ultra as tipster Ice Universe claims that the handset will be able to run 120Hz refresh rate QHD+ resolution. However, he doesn’t mention the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21+, so we are not sure whether this will only apply to the top-end model.
The Galaxy S21 series is expected to be slightly upgraded over its predecessor. Despite being rumored to support up to 60W fast charging, the lineup is said to come with the same battery capacity, meaning the battery of the S21 and S21+ will come with respective capacities of 4,000 mAh and 4,500 mAh. While having a QHD+ display running at 120Hz refresh is great, it will certainly put a heavier weight on the battery of the S21 and S21+, so Samsung might leave that option to just the S21 Ultra, which is tipped to pack a beefier 5,000 mAh battery.
Aside from having a 120Hz QHD+ display, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is also said to feature a quad or penta camera setup that will reportedly include a 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM3 sensor, laser autofocus, an ultra-wide-angle camera, and no ToF Sensor. Other specs include a 40MP camera on the front for selfies, Snapdragon 875 or Exynos 2100 chipset (depend on markets), and Android 11.
