After its August launch, the premium Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra became the most powerful smartphone in app-loading style speed tests thanks to its Snapdragon 865+ chip and 12GB of RAM. However, now that Apple releases the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro with the new A14 Bionic chip, the US tech firm has regained its crown.

Specifically, in the speed test by the YouTube channel PhoneBuff, Apple's iPhone 12 Pro with 6GB of RAM beat the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with 12GB of RAM with a time difference of about 17 seconds in two rounds of testing. The efficiency that Apple is able to deliver with the new A14 chip, the iPhone 12 hardware, and the iOS operating system is still proven to be a strong advantage.
The A14 Bionic is the first Apple chipset to be built on a 5nm process, helping to deliver higher performance and put the iPhone 12 Pro ahead of Samsung's Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. One funny thing is that after Apple launched the iPhone 12 product line, Samsung, in addition to mocking the US company for giving up the charger, strongly advertised that their Galaxy phones had the “best camera, battery, performance, memory” and more.
While the app-loading style speed tests are surely not enough to prove which smartphone is a better pick, it's a good illustration of how competitive the market is and how efficient Apple’s iPhone is in both software and hardware departments.
Another interesting aspect is that the iPhone 12 Pro starts at $300 (around Rs. 22,000) less than the list price of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (not the case in India though). Not only that, the iPhone 12 and 12 mini, which also own the A14 chip, are even a lot cheaper.
