This year, with the S21 series, Samsung has set a bigger gap between the models. It is hard to recommend the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus given that it has the same camera setup as well as screen size as the last year’s S20 Plus. The S21 has a better chipset, a higher resolution display, and a larger battery. For those considering these two phones, they really should take a look at the S21 Ultra.
Just like last year, Samsung has launched three Galaxy S21 models. The Plus model, which used to be the company’s flagship device a few years ago, now sits in the middle. The camera setup was what differed the S20 and the S20 Plus. However, this year, the two models have a clearer distinction. Both the S21 and S21 Plus aren’t Samsung’s top-end devices. Instead, it is the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Check out our Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus review to find out more about the device.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Release Date
Samsung announced the Galaxy S21 Plus alongside the Galaxy S21 and S21 Ultra during the virtual Unpacked event on January 14. The launch is one year earlier than in previous years.
In most regions, the release date of the device is scheduled for January 29, 2021. The S21 lineup is available for pre-order now.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Price
Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus price in India starts at Rs 81,999 for the base variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Meanwhile, the variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage costs Rs 85,999.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Design
When looking at the front of the device, you will notice that the Galaxy S21 Plus doesn’t look that much different from the last year’s S20 Plus. This year's model is a bit wider and heavier. But when you hold the device in your hand, you don’t really feel that. It is well balanced. The S21 Plus does feel like a premium phone as it is.
When you flip the phone over, on the back of the phone, the new camera setup is merged into the body. And it looks really nice in real life. The S21 Plus is available in three different colors: Phantom Silver, Phantom Black, and Phantom Violet. All models come in a glass black with a matte finish. Fingerprint smudges are kept to a minimum.
On the right side are the volume keys and the buttons for power/Bixby. At the bottom of the phone are the SIM tray, a speaker, and the USB Type-C port. You will find on the top of the phone an additional speaker. The glass back offers wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Display
Like the S20 Plus, the S21 Plus has a 6.7-inch display. However, Samsung, for some reason, has reduced the S21 Plus’ maximum resolution to Full HD+ instead of QHD. The S-Pen is an exclusive feature of the S21 Ultra, setting it apart from the S21 Plus. The screen still supports a 120Hz refresh rate.
All the phones in the S21 lineup have a larger in-screen fingerprint sensor than the one of the S20 series. Also according to Samsung, it is faster, making unlocking your phone easier.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Camera
The device comes with a triple-lens setup including a 12MP wide camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera offering 3x hybrid zoom. That sounds similar to you? Well, that is because those are the same camera specs found on the last year’s S20 Plus.
The new Exynos 2100 chipset offers ISP as well as improved AI capabilities to produce better image quality.
There is a new mode called Director’s View, allowing you to capture video using multiple cameras at the same time. This means you can use both the front and the back cameras to capture your main video as well as reactions.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Specs & Performance
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus has the latest generation of chipsets: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 in the US or Samsung’s Exynos 2100. We will have to test the phone to see if the new phones in the S21 lineup of Samsung can close the gap with the A series of chipsets from Apple.
The Galaxy S21 range supports 5G. There are 4G-only and 5G models. However, the 5G variants only cost a bit more.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Battery
The battery capacity of the device has been upgraded from 4,500mAh on the S20 Plus to 4,800mAh. And that combined with a more power-efficient processor means that the S21 Plus should have better battery life compared to its predecessor.
That is all the information that we have got regarding the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus release date, price, and specs. We hope that it can help you decide whether to spend your money on the device or not.
