As Samsung's current flagship, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is equipped with a battery with a capacity of up to 5,000mAh, allowing users to use the device for a long time before having to recharge. The device can be charged with a bundled 25W fast charger over its USB Type-C port.
You might be wondering how long does it take a 25W fast charger to fully refill the 5,000mAh battery of the S20 Ultra. Here is the result of the test by PhoneArena:
Galaxy S20 Ultra charging speed using a 25W charger:
- After 15 minutes: 32% battery
- After 30 minutes: 62% battery
- After 45 minutes: 89% battery
- After 59 minutes: 100% battery
As can be seen, it only takes 1 hour to fully charge the 5000mAh battery of Galaxy S20 Ultra with a 25W charger and it is an impressive achievement. Meanwhile, with just 15 minutes of charging, users can also use the Galaxy S20 Ultra for at least a few hours.
However, Samsung still sells a charger with a nearly twice as fast charging speed, 45W for users who want the fastest charging speed possible. To achieve this super-fast charging speed, the 45W charger is relatively larger in size and comes with equally thick charging cable.
Do you think the 45W charger will help the Galaxy S20 Ultra charger faster? You can check the result below:
Charging speed of the Galaxy S20 Ultra with a 45W charger
- After 15 minutes: 37% battery
- After 30 minutes: 70% battery
- After 45 minutes: 92% battery
- After 59 minutes: 100% battery
As can be seen, with the charging speed of nearly double that of the 25W charger, 45W charger has a faster-charging speed, but the gap is not too big. With the 45W charger, the Galaxy S20 Ultra reaches about 37% battery after 15 minutes of charging, while the 25W charger charges 32% of the battery in the same amount of time.
Similarly, after 30 minutes of charging, the Galaxy S20 Ultra reaches 70% battery with a 45W charger; and 62% battery when using 25W charger. Remarkably, when the battery reaches a high percentage, the charging speed of both chargers are pretty much the same. Both took an hour to fully charge the 5m000mAh battery on the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
Therefore, if you are busy, do not like to have to plug in for too long and want the fastest charging speed possible, the 45W charger is completely 'worth the money'. Conversely, if you are not too concerned about charging time, the 25W charger bundled with the device is more than enough.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra price: $1,399 (around Rs. 99,600) for 16GB RAM + 128GB storage model
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra price in India: Rs. 92,999 (memory configuration is unknown)
