Samsung has been very active in the budget segment with its Galaxy M series and Galaxy A series. The market has been flooded with many offerings from the South Korean phone maker. After introducing the Galaxy A20e, Galaxy A70, and Galaxy A80 several days ago, it is now set to launch yet another addition to the Galaxy M series.
While the Galaxy A series currently has a total of 8 members, Samsung has only launched three phones in the budget Galaxy M series, including Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20, and Galaxy M30. all three phones offer a great value for their aggressive pricings. Now, according to a new listing on Wi-Fi Alliance website, the company is about to announce a new member to the Galaxy M series, dubbed Galaxy M40.
The phone listed on Wi-Fi Alliance under model number “SM-M405F/DS” which clearly shows that it belongs to the Galaxy M series. Unfortunately, the listing doesn’t give us many details about this upcoming handset, besides the phone having Wi-Fi a/c, running the latest Android 9.0 Pie and the DS at the end of the model number indicating dual sim support. However, we can still make some speculations about its specifications.
Looking at the Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20, and Galaxy M30, we believe that the Galaxy M40 will come with a bigger display than the 6.4-inch panel on the Galaxy M30. Additionally, with the Galaxy M30 packing a Super AMOLED panel, there is no reason for Samsung to go for anything less than that.
As for the hardware specifications, it is likely to be powered by the same Samsung-made Exynos 7904 SoC on the Galaxy M30. In terms of camera, a triple rear camera could be expected as well.
That is what we can guess at the moment. However, we can be sure that the launch of this Galaxy M40 will not be far away as the Wi-Fi certification step is one of the last steps in a phone’s release and development cycle. Therefore, there should be more information about the handset coming out in the upcoming days.
