Just a couple of days ago, the pricing of the upcoming Android Go phone from Samsung was leaked. The handset was also hinted to launch in the Indian market pretty soon. And the leak was accurate as the phone is now up for sale. According to Mahesh Telecom which is a well-established phone retailer based in Mumbai, claims that the new Samsung Galaxy A2 Core is up for sale at the moment. It is priced at Rs. 5,290 which is Rs. 1,000 lower than that of its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core.
Galaxy A2 Core: Specs & Features
The Samsung Galaxy A2 Core is similar to other phones in the Android Go program. It also offers basic specifications that are enough for normal use. Up front, it sports a 5-inch LCD panel with a qHD (540 x 960p) resolution. As per the previous leak, the phone will have dimensions of 141.5x70.9x9.1mm which is understandable as its display is surrounded by quite thick bezels with an earpiece, proximity sensor, and a front camera located at the top and above the display. At the bottom front, it has a sizeable chin with a Samsung branding in the middle.
The handset is powered by a Samsung-made Exynos 7879 SoC clocked at 1.6GHz, coupled with 1GB RAM and 16GB of storage which is expandable via a microSD slot. As for software, it ships with Go Edition of the latest Android 9 Pie and optimized apps for the OS such as Google Assistant Go, Gmail Go, and Maps Go.
There is a single 5MP camera on both the front and back of the phone. In terms of battery, it is powered by a 2,600mAh battery. Its connectivity options include dual-SIM card slot, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, FM Radio, and Bluetooth 4.2.
With the Rs. 5,290 price tag, the Galaxy A2 Core will mostly face the competition from some Android Go phones available such as Nokia 1 and Redmi Go, both of which are priced at Rs. 4,499 and Rs 4,000, respectively.
