ROG 2 - Asus Gaming Smartphone, Will Be Launched In July In China

ROG 2, Asus's second smartphone for gaming, will be launched in July. It will come to China but there is no guarantee it will make it to India

Games like PUBG Mobile has led to the crave for gaming phones in the last few years. The first model in this segment was the Raze Phone, and recently Asus, the Taiwanese manufacturer announced they would launch the next generation of smartphone for gamers, the ROG Phone 2, after the first ROG was released in 2018.

Asus has always been the pioneer in gaming hardware, and with ROG (short for Republic of Gamers) getting lots of attention from the company, it is clear that you cannot go wrong when shopping with Asus for game accessories.

While ROG is not the first ever game-centric mobile phone, it is the first to come to the Indian market.

According to ROG’s official Weibo site, ROG 2 would be introduced in July with an impressive 120Hz display. However, this refresh rate has already been on the two Razer phones. In China, Asus will work with Under the One Man to introduce ROG 2 in this market.

Apart from the refresh rate, we have had no other detail on the rest of the spec list. Our best guess, for now, is RAM of 12GB and the Snapdragon 855 chipset. Asus might give the ROG 2 a better heat dissipation system and a faster speed of charging, which are both essential for a gaming phone.

There is no exact launch date either, and Asus has been quite secret about whether it will launch the phone in India.

On the last ROG phone, we have a 90 Hz AMOLED display coupled with two USB type-C ports and a proprietary port. Under the hood, we have inbuilt storage of 128 GB and RAM of 8 GB, which is expandable to 256 GB.
