Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has been teasing its upcoming Redmi Y3 for quite a while already. The handset is touted to be a selfie-centric offering with a 32MP front-facing camera. It is also expected to come with a gradient rear panel, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a dual camera setup. The company is set to launch on 24 April, and now it was just spotted on a new listing on benchmarking site Geekbench.
According to the listing, the handset will be powered by a dated Snapdragon 625 chipset which was launched more than three years ago and 3GB of RAM. This processor was quite popular with smartphones like the last year’s Redmi Y2 and Redmi Note 4. A newer Snapdragon 632 SoC that is used on the Redmi 7 would be a much better option for a phone in 2019, but using a dated processor might suggest that Redmi will apply much more affordable pricing on this handset. The Geekbench listing also shows that the handset will ship with Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 which is based on the latest Android 9.0 Pie.
You will not have to wait for long as the phone is all set to launch tomorrow already. As for the pricing, the Redmi Y3 should have a similar pricing to its predecessor Redmi Y2 which is Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 12,999 for the options with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage.
