A fresh teaser poster of a new smartphone under the new Redmi brand has just spotted online. As seen on the teaser poster, a handset with the name of Redmi X is set to come out on 15 February. The text line on the teaser poster also shows that this phone will feature an on-screen fingerprint sensor. The Chinese phone maker hasn’t revealed any further information about the upcoming handset when it comes to its pricing, availability, or specifications.
The teaser poster was firstly spotted by PlayfulDroid, and the text line in the poster is roughly translated as: “national screen fingerprint scanner mobile phone” which means this upcoming Redmi X will likely come with an on-screen fingerprint sensor. The handset is also rumored to either target the budget or mid-range segment. Considering that Xiaomi is reportedly working on the Redmi 7 and 7 Pro, it’s likely that this Redmi X will pack better specifications than them. It is rumored to feature a water-drop notch and pack a Snapdragon 710 SoC. The Chinese phone maker is tipped to launch multiple phones along with this Redmi X including the Redmi 7, Redmi 7 Pro, and possibly Xiaomi Mi 9.
The reason why there might be multiple devices launching at the same time is because of a different teaser showing the Chinese phone maker will reportedly introducing the Xiaomi Mi 9 in the next month, and it doesn’t really make sense for Xiaomi to hold multiple release events for different handsets. However, it is not confirmed that the poster is officially from Xiaomi so you should take this news with a grain of salt.
If the phone will indeed feature an on-screen fingerprint sensor in the budget phone segment as indicated by the teaser poster then this will be quite a leap for the Chinese phone maker because, for now, in the Indian market, no other phone maker is offering such technology in the same price range.
