After a massive amount of leaks and teasers, the Redmi K30 finally goes official in China in 4G and 5G versions. The handset arrives as a direct competitor to the Realme X2 in the market. The Redmi K30 5G is the first phone in the market to come with a Snapdragon 765 chipset with support for 5G network. Another notable feature of the phone is the 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor, which is only available on the Redmi K30 at the moment. Other highlights include a hole-punch display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, 30W quick charging technology, and dual-selfie camera cluster. Sadly, the Redmi K30 4G only packs with a Snapdragon 730G instead of the new Snapdragon 765.
Redmi K30: Availability & Price
The price of the Redmi K30 4G in China is CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs. 16,100) for the base 6GB RAM / 64GB storage option and CNY 1,699 (roughly Rs. 17,100) for the model with 6GB RAM / 128GB storage. You can also get two more variants with 8GB RAM / 128GB storage and 8GB RAM / 256GB storage for CNY 1,899 (roughly Rs. 19,100) and CNY 2,199 (roughly Rs. 22,200), respectively.
Moving to the Redmi K30 5G, it is priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 20,100) for the entry-level variant with 6GB of RAM/ 64GB storage. You can get another model with twice the storage for a price of CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 23,100). The last two options - 8GB RAM / 128GB storage and 8GB RAM / 256GB storage are retailed at CNY 2,599 (roughly Rs. 26,200) and CNY 2,899 (roughly Rs. 29,200), respectively.
The Redmi K30 4G is available in Blue, Purple, and Red hues, while the 5G model comes in one more color variant, White.
The brand hasn’t confirmed the exact launch date of the handset in India yet, but it recently passed through India’s BIS, which might suggest that it is coming to the market soon.
Redmi K30 5G: Features & Specifications
As mentioned, there are two models of the Redmi K30, 4G & 5G. While the Redmi K30 4G is powered by a Snapdragon 730G chipset, the Redmi K30 5G takes power from the newly-launched Snapdragon 765G processor with a 5G modem integrated. Other than that, the two have pretty much the same specs & features to each other. On the front, it is covered by a 6.67-inch FHD+ LCD panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a punch-hole to house two selfie shooters.
On the software side of things, the handset runs on Android 10 with the brand’s MIUI 10 on top. Under the hood, it packs a large 4,500 mAh battery with support for 30W quick charging tech (27W for the 4G model). Security-wise, the brand equips a fingerprint reader on the side.
In terms of camera, both the 4G and 5G models are packed with four rear cameras. However, instead of having a 5MP macro camera, the 4G model sports a 2MP macro lens only. The other three units on the setup are a 64M main sensor, a 2MP depth-sensing shooter, and an 8MP super-wide-angle camera. On the front, there are a 20MP primary camera and a 2M portrait lens.
